Patrick Nyarko suffers torn ACL, sprained MCL


Chicago Fire midfielder Patrick Nyarko suffered a torn Anterior cruciate ligament and a sprained Medial collateral ligament in his right knee in the 81st minute of the Fire’s road match against D.C. United on Oct. 18.

Surgery will be scheduled for a later date once the swelling subsides. The expected recovery time is six to eight months.

Fire to honor retiring midfielder Logan Pause pre and post-game Friday vs. Dynamo


The Chicago Fire (5-10-18, 33 points) welcome the Houston Dynamo (11-16-6, 39 points) to Toyota Park for the final match of the 2014 season on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. CT (NBC Sports Network/107.9 FM La Ley).

Ceremonies for Logan Pause

Fans are encouraged to enter the stadium early on Friday, Oct. 24 as the Chicago Fire will honor midfielder Logan Pause with both pre and post-game ceremonies.

Chicago Fire presents Breast Cancer Awareness Night on October 14


The Chicago Fire Soccer Club and University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) have teamed up for the third consecutive year to host Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Friday, October 24 at Toyota Park. Ahead of the 7 p.m. CT kickoff against the Houston Dynamo, the Club will distribute UI Health-sponsored pink foam fingers to the first 5,000 fans at the gates.

Other match elements will include pink patches on player jerseys, pink corner flags, goal nets and balls for in-game use, and pink merchandise for sale in the Fan Shop.

Fire announce open tryouts


The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Wednesday that the club will hold its Seventh Annual Open Tryouts on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Bridgeview Sports Dome at 8900 S. 77th Ave. in Bridgeview, IL 60455. A map to the Bridgeview Sports Dome can be found here.

The tryout is open to male soccer players ages 18 and older who believe they can succeed at the Major League Soccer level. Members of the Fire Technical Staff will be on hand at the tryouts to observe and rank players, and the winner of the Open Tryout will be awarded the chance to train with the Fire first team during the club’s preseason camp.

Fire top Montreal in MLS Reserve League action


The Chicago Fire defeated the Montreal Impact 1-0 in MLS Reserve League action Monday morning on the Toyota Park Practice Field. Guest player Bubacarr Jobe tallied the lone goal of the match as the Men in Red finished atop the MLS Reserve League standings with a 5-1-2 record.

The Men in the Red scored the lone goal of the match in the 28th minute. A long ball from Benji Joya sent Fire Academy player Andrew Gutman down the left side, where Gutman played the ball square to Jobe, who tapped the ball into the back of the net.

Montreal had its best chance in the 91st minute when Felipe was awarded a free kick from about 35 yards from goal. The Brazilian attempted to chip the ensuing free kick over the wall but Chicago Fire Academy player Cameron Lindley cleared it just before the final whistle.

Fire Midfielder Benji Joya named to roster for U.S. U-23 Men’s National Team Camp


U.S. Soccer announced Friday that midfielder Benji Joya has been named to the 21-man roster for the U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team’s October training camp in Brasilia. The team will depart for the Brazilian capital on Oct. 9 and train from Oct. 10-12 before facing Brazil’s U-23 squad on Oct. 13 at Estádio Nacional in Brasilia at 5 p.m. CT.
